1. Purpose and scope
These Terms govern access to and use of the website, subdomains, academic platforms, institutional accounts, email, authentication systems, forms, support channels and any other digital resources that the institution identifies as official. The financial and academic conditions specific to the provision of education are set out separately in the General Conditions of the Educational Service.
They apply to students, applicants, legal guardians, teachers, staff, suppliers and authorised third parties, to the extent that they use institutional resources. Access to a specific resource may also be subject to particular technical or academic rules, provided these are compatible with the law and with these Terms.
2. Acceptance and legal capacity
Use of the digital services entails the duty to know and comply with these rules. Where an action requires contractual capacity, consent or the representation of a minor, the institution shall request the corresponding intervention. Acceptance of these Terms does not amount to general consent for personal data processing that requires specific authorisation.
3. Accounts and digital identity
- Credentials are personal and non-transferable, except for technical or shared accounts expressly created by the institution.
- Users must keep passwords secure, enable the required authentication factors and protect their recovery methods.
- Loss, impersonation, phishing, suspicious access or compromise of an account must be reported immediately.
- The institution may request identity verification in order to recover accounts, change authentication factors or authorise sensitive operations.
- The institution will never request full passwords or authentication codes through informal channels.
4. Acceptable use
Institutional resources shall be used for authorised educational, academic, administrative and communication purposes. Users must respect the dignity of others, intellectual property, confidentiality, the Code of Coexistence and applicable regulations.
- Obtaining or attempting to obtain unauthorised access to systems, data, accounts, assessments or networks is prohibited.
- Circumventing controls, introducing malware, carrying out denial-of-service attacks, intercepting communications or performing penetration testing without written authorisation is prohibited.
- Using institutional services for harassment, threats, fraud, impersonation, discrimination, the unlawful disclosure of personal data or illegal material is prohibited.
- Mass sharing of assessments, credentials, databases, recordings or protected content outside permitted uses is prohibited.
5. Security and vulnerability reporting
The accidental discovery of a vulnerability must be reported through the institutional support or security channel, without accessing additional information, altering data, maintaining persistence, publicly disclosing the flaw or using it to gain any advantage. The institution shall assess the report and may establish a coordinated disclosure procedure.
6. Minors and reinforced protection
Resources used by children and adolescents shall be configured and administered with regard to their best interests, age and level of maturity. The institution may apply reinforced controls over access, moderation, security and supervision. Third parties are not authorised to profile or commercially exploit students' data through institutional resources in the absence of a valid legal basis.
7. Academic integrity and artificial intelligence
The use of artificial intelligence tools, content generation, code assistance, translation or automated problem-solving shall be subject to the instructions given for each activity and to the institution's academic rules. Where permitted, the user remains responsible for verifying accuracy, sources, privacy and authorship.
It is prohibited to use technology to impersonate another person, to obtain answers in unauthorised assessments, to falsify evidence, to circumvent controls, to fabricate documents or to carry out any action amounting to academic fraud.
8. User-contributed content
Users retain the rights to which they are legally entitled over their work and content. By uploading it to an institutional platform, they authorise only the technical operations necessary to store, process, display, assess, back up and retain it for the legitimate duration of the educational or administrative activity.
Users must hold sufficient rights or authorisation over any third-party material they incorporate. The promotional publication of work, photographs or videos shall be governed by the Privacy Policy and, where applicable, by a specific authorisation.
9. Institutional intellectual property
Trademarks, logos, interfaces, software, academic materials, videos, assessments, manuals, designs and databases belong to their respective owners. Access grants only a limited authorisation for educational or administrative use. Selling, sublicensing, redistributing or commercially exploiting content without authorisation or a legal basis is not permitted.
10. Communications and data messages
The institution may use email, platform notifications, messaging, forms and other official channels for academic, administrative, operational or security communications. Data messages, electronic records and evidence of acceptance may be used as evidence in accordance with applicable law, without prejudice to any special signature or form requirements imposed by law.
11. Payments and digital channels
Payments relating to the educational service are governed by the General Conditions of the Educational Service and by the tariff resolution in force. Users must use official channels only, verify the payee and report suspicious requests. The institution will never request banking passwords, full OTP codes or secret financial credentials.
12. Availability, maintenance and support
The institution shall endeavour to keep resources reasonably available, but may carry out scheduled or emergency maintenance, updates, changes of supplier or incident-containment measures. Where an interruption attributable to the institution affects a relevant academic obligation, reasonable continuity measures shall be applied in proportion to the impact.
Technical support covers institutional resources within the defined scope. The institution does not guarantee the repair of personal devices or the quality of home connections or third-party services outside its control.
13. Third-party services and links
Certain functions may depend on external providers of cloud services, email, video conferencing, authentication, content or payments. Access to those services may be subject to their own terms. The institution shall endeavour to select providers compatible with its obligations, but does not assume absolute control over external services where these act on their own behalf.
14. Data protection and cookies
The processing of personal data is governed by the Personal Data Privacy and Protection Policy. The use of cookies and similar technologies is governed by the Cookie Policy and Notice. Where a purpose requires consent, such consent shall be obtained separately, specifically and on an informed basis.
15. Suspension and restriction of access
The institution may temporarily restrict an account or service where there is a security risk, compromised credentials, abuse, fraud, an order from an authority or a serious breach. Any such measure must be proportionate, recorded where appropriate and reviewed once the risk has been mitigated. In the case of students, it may not be used as an arbitrary mechanism to impair the right to education.
16. Liability
Each user is responsible for their use of the services and for the consequences of sharing credentials, infringing third-party rights or breaching these rules. The institution shall be liable within the limits established by law and does not seek to exclude liabilities that cannot lawfully be limited.
The institution shall not be liable for failures attributable exclusively to personal equipment, the user's Internet provider, unforeseeable unlawful acts of third parties or events of force majeure, without prejudice to its duties of security, diligence and continuity where these apply.
17. Amendments
These Terms may be updated as a result of regulatory, technological, security or organisational changes. Substantial amendments shall be communicated by reasonable means. An update shall not retroactively legitimise processing, charges or restrictions that are contrary to applicable regulations.
18. Complaints and applicable law
Queries or complaints may be submitted through the institutional channels. This does not limit the right to approach the competent educational, data protection, consumer, judicial or administrative authorities. These Terms shall be interpreted in accordance with Ecuadorian law.
